Your doctor will assess your symptoms to determine if the flu or a cold. If you sneeze or have nasal congestion, you might have a cold. It is very likely that the flu causes fever, cough, chills and muscle aches, and is a seasonal virus but colds. Influenza tends to occur in the winter months, whereas colds occur throughout the year.
