Who were victims of a stroke have a 40 percent chance of suffering a second attack in five years and an estimated one third of stroke patients have a second episode within two years.

The first clinical study done on a large scale in patients with cardiovascular disease history was called SPARCL (for its acronym in English ‘Stroke Prevention by Aggressive Reduction in Cholesterol Levels “) and able to analyze the impact of the use of aggressive treatment with Lipitor for 4.731 cholesterol in patients from 27 different countries, who were followed in 205 medical centers.
