Acidity
What is heartburn?
As acidity is often referred to the discomfort caused by the output of acid normally found in the stomach into the esophagus, causing irritation of the latter.
The term heartburn is used by patients, describing various symptoms associated with discomfort after eating food. It is often used synonymously with indigestion (although more and more evident the difference between the two and is used to refer specifically to the upper abdominal pain or discomfort), characterized by discomfort associated with food intake similar to those which occurred in the peptic ulcer (although not necessarily have to be here this disease entity or the symptoms must be due to it). Heartburn and reflux are common, 10 percent of the population experiences these symptoms at least once a week . For example, 25 percent of pregnant women experience heartburn, or have other symptoms related to heartburn. Although rarely life threatening, frequent or severe heartburn may limit daily activities and productivity and triggering further complications. However, most people find relief by following a consistent treatment program and understand the causes properly.
Heartburn symptoms can be mistaken for a heart attack. For this reason it is important to seek help immediately if these symptoms are accompanied by one of the following: shortness of breath, sweating, pain in the jaw, neck and arm, feeling cold, nausea and vomiting.
